Kia EV9 electric SUV is in final testing phase, expected in 2023

After 44 months of development in the areas of design, performance, electric range, dynamics and vehicle comfort, the EV9 is now being pushed to the limits of durability in a tough verification program at Kia’s Namyang global R&D center in South Korea.

The Kia EV9 is being tested for deep wading, rough terrain and 4WD climbing to ensure its reliability in challenging conditions. Thorough scrutiny is also put on the all-electric SUV’s performance and traction at high speeds, handling and low-friction tracks of the base.

For the ultimate in build quality and ride comfort, the EV9 is also being tested by Kia engineers on ‘Belgian pavement’ gravel. In addition to the tests at the Namyang R&D center, Kia says the EV9 has also been subjected to punitive test regimes around the world.

The EV9 will be built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) architecture, with a maximum DC charging rate of 350 kW through an 800 v electrical system. According to Kia, the large SUV will have a range of up to 480 km.

As for the styling, it has clearly been reduced in boldness EV9 . concept was shown late last year (photos below). However, it will certainly be an all-electric SUV, which will be an attractive option should it come to Malaysia. Hands up, anyone interested?
