Keyshawn Davis loses, wins the decision almost off against Francisco Patera


Keyshawn Davis took another step forward in his young career.

The 24-year-old lightweight opponent knocked and overcame Francesco Patera en route to winning the decisive match in near-overtime in a 10-round on-card George Kambosos Jr.-Maxi Hughes on Saturday in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The official scores are 100-89, 100-89 and 99-90. Boxing Junkie also scored 100-89 for the Olympic silver medalist from Norfolk, Virginia.

Davis (9-0.6 KOs) overtook Patera (28-4, 10 KOs) during a one-way skirmish, achieving a much higher percentage of his punches than his opponent. The Belgian, competing in the US for the first time, is very competitive and competitive but he has difficulty delivering clean punches.

The most dramatic moment came when Round 8 was about a minute away, when one of Davis’ right hands landed on Patera’s back and stunned him.

However, Patera quickly recovered and continued to fight until the last bell.

Davis was impressed with his performance.

“I give myself a C+ or a B-,” he said. “But like I said, we won, and that’s what matters. I really can’t be too hard on myself if I don’t stop these guys because they have more experience than me. But, at the end of the day, I will beat them unanimously in every round.

“I have to take my hat off for just doing such little things, sticking to my game plan, listening to my coaching and having fun there.”
