The US-born prime minister is loved by many there.

But US commentator Ian Bremmer told Sky News that even his admirers will admit his time in office has not helped raise Britain’s standing in the world.

‘Scandal when scandal when scandal’

Mr Bremmer said: “He’s very smart. He’s extremely attractive. But as a political leader he’s also very narcissistic and not good for the UK.

“And so, even as Americans miss him, we must recognize that this is a bad time for UK politics.

“Besieged by scandal after scandal after scandal, Boris Johnson is caught lying one lie after another. And they don’t need this.”
