Kelce, Chiefs rally from 17-point deficit to take down Raiders

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chief of Kansas City won a much different kind of game than they did last week, it made them feel like they’d never left a game. The captains are back from a 17-point deficit to beat Las Vegas Raiders 30-29. Patrick Mahomes and the offense is credited to one point out of five direct assets, with four being Travis Kelce touch down catch.

The Chiefs took a big lead early last week before beating Tampa Bay BuccaneersBut this victory comes more difficult.

Chief of Kansas City

Synthetic play: With Andy Reid and the captains still furious from a passer’s rough penalty denied a Chris Jones Recovering sacks, strips and fumbles, the captains scrambled in the final seconds of the first half for a goal 59 yards from Matthew Wright to gain momentum and cut their deficit on October 20. The longest kick in the history of Chiefs and Arrowhead Stadium.

Eye-catching Next Generation Indicator: According to ESPN Analytics, the Chiefs’ decision to take 2 and turn it into a 30-23 doubles game in the fourth quarter was the correct one – but not by much. The probability of winning with a 2-point effort (unsuccessful) is 87.8%, while the probability of winning with an extra-point effort is 87.4%.

QB analysis: Mahomes were under unrelenting pressure early in the game, resulting in two penalties and a goal in their first three Chiefs possession. Maxx Crosby of the Raiders had the first two sacks. The Chiefs found an effective defense and Mahomes led 5 consecutive goals, 4 TD passes for Kelce and 1 long goal for Wright. –– Adam Teicher

Underrated statistics to know: Travis KelceThe four touchdowns received are the most in a prime-time NFL game since the Patriots’ Randy Moss had four in Sunday Night Football against the Bills on November 18, 2007.

Next game: against the Bills (4:25 p.m. ET, Sunday)

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders not ready for golden hour. Not after blowing a 17-0 lead to lose Chief of Kansas City30-29, three weeks after blowing a 20-0 inning lead to The Arizona Cardinals. There’s sure to be a learning curve with new coach Josh McDaniels bringing his offensive system to Las Vegas, the team that played last season’s playoffs and added the All-Pro receiver. Davante Adams for a bunch of former Pro Bowlers. However, the Raiders showed guts and, in the case of McDaniels, the courage to make a two-point conversion to take the lead with 4:27 to play. Run back Josh Jacobs Got crammed in, though, and now the Raiders (1-4) limp into their goodbye week.

Biggest flaw in the game plan: Guard Captain TE Travis Kelce. Look, Kelce has been a Raid hitman his entire career, so that doesn’t mean he’s going to sneak up on anyone. However, he finished with four TDs on seven catches within just 24 yards, giving him 11 career points against the Raiders. Will the Raiders ever cover for him, or is he just that good?

Bold predictions for next week: Raiders have settled on an offensive line. LT’s lineup Kolton MillerLG Dylan ParhamOLD Andre JamesRG Alex Bars and RT Jermaine Eluemunor is the fifth different starting O-line for the Raiders in five games, the 10th different iteration of the season. The Raiders were looking for the right guys in the right positions and, with the way they were able to run the ball early and often, they had their squad. Probably.

QB analysis: Derek Carr got off to a hot start, beating Adams wide open at TD 58 yards on the call to action on days 4 and 1. That was Carr’s career-record 200th score, 50 more than Hall of Famer Ken Stabler, who second. list. Carr completed 19 of 30 passes for 241 yards with two TDs and no interceptions. His biggest contributions, however, came from the rough penalty he suffered, as well as two deep PIs on bottom throws for Adams.

Synthetic play: Cruel punishment for passers-by is called to Head of DT Chris Jones in the second quarter. Regardless Jones managed to get the ball from Carr before knocking him down. It looked like Jones should have had a sack/gross rebound and Carr a tackle, the Raiders instead kept possession and kicked a goal. Six straight penalty flags were launched against the Raiders after the call. –– Paul Gutierrez

Underrated statistics to know: Last season, Carr was just 1 to 4 when throwing to a player receiving/expanding more than 30 yards in the lower court. His first TD for Adams was his first pass of the 2022 season, at 35 yards at 3.3 yards.

Next game: versus Texans (4:05 p.m. ET, Sunday, October 23)
