A Memphis Man Has Been Arrested On Terrible Animals Charges After One brutal and senseless attack on a beautiful Pitbull Mix named Riona.

Riona, who was originally called the Queen, was found running down the streets of Memphis engulfed in flames. This act of torture is said to be intentional because the innocent dog’s coat reeks of diesel fuel. According to her caregivers at Bluff City Veterinary Hospital, she suffered severe burns to more than 60 percent of her body.

After rescuing her, Riona quickly became an internet star and is now a treasure loved all over the world. A TikTok account created to tell Riona’s story (@ Justice4riona) now boasts over ninety-four thousand followers. And the sweet girl, still receiving treatment for her injuries at Bluff City Vet, has received an incredible amount of gifts, cards and donations to help her recover.

The kind folks at Tails of Hope Rescue, who now own Riona, have been campaigning for this arrest for weeks and were overjoyed to hear the news.

“Sleep in peace sweet girl,” the rescue said. “Your abuser is behind bars.”

Riona continues to make big improvements every day. Her condition is now stable enough to begin a skin graft, the first of which will take place next week. And her left eye, which veterinarians initially thought might not be salvageable, miraculously healed without any loss of sight.

Riona’s caregivers report that she continues to let her sweet and loving personality shine through. She started acting like a real dog again:

Bluff City Veterinary Technician Mallory McLemore said: “It’s definitely starting to bloom. “She wanted to roll around in the grass and play and do things like that. And someone sent her a teddy bear, so she squealed earlier. “

In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Riona’s abuser was also charged with Simple Assault and Setting a Fire to Burn Personal Property. This final charge was added when the arrestee threatened to burn down anyone’s home who had submitted the home security footage that ultimately led to his arrest.
