In the early 1970s, Chrysler (lack of capital to develop a brand new subsidiary for the US market) started importing Mitsubishi Colt Galants and put Dodge Colt badges on them. Chrysler’s relationship with Mitsubishi deepened in the following decades, with a lot of Mitsubishis being sold here with Dodge, Plymouth, Chryslerand eagle armorial. That hasn’t stopped Mitsubishi Motors from selling a number of identical vehicles, however, once sales of Mitsubishi-branded vehicles and truck start here in the model year 1983. Beginning in 1979, the Colt badge changed to Front-wheel drive Miragewith Mirage itself appears here for the 1985 model year. This is one of those cars, a rare 1990s sedan in a self-service yard in Denver.
In 1990, Americans could choose between four nearly identical versions of this car sold by different brands: Mitsubishi Mirage, Dodge Colt, Plymouth Coltand Eagle Summit. Mitsubishi is definitely worth your money 4G or Orion engine family! This is a 1.5 liter SOHC 4G15, with a capacity of 81 hp. First generation Hyundai Excel (and its Mitsubishi-branded twins, Precis) there is a version of this engine. If you buy the Mirage Turbo, you get a DOHC version, 1.6-liter and 135-horsepower (but it was only available here until 1989 and was only a hatchback).
That 81 horsepower is even less exciting than it sounds, in this case, because the original buyer of this Mirage ditched the standard-equipped five-speed manual transmission and paid more for it. three-speed automatic.
It is air-conditioned, with the “Econo” mode that was very popular in 1980s Japanese cars.
