Jose Pedraza was a world champion in two weight classes. However, the 29-4 boxer will now fight for relegation as he takes on another former world champion, 30-4 Richard Commey in a 12th round match scheduled at the Hotel and Casino. Hard Rock in Tulsa on Saturday.
The fight, which will be broadcast on ESPN starting at 10:30 p.m. ET, is meant for 35-year-old Commey as well as for 33-year-old Pedraza. Both men need a win here if they want to remain notable fighters. For no man has recently been particularly impressed.
Commey’s last game was a decisive loss to Vasyl Lomachenko late last year while Pedraza was about to lose to Jose Ramirez last March. However, tonight’s game could be quite an interesting one, if not an “important” one. There are worse things one can do than watch two talents even though perhaps their dead top boxers give their all on Saturday night.
