The 12-day holiday, which runs from October 9 to 20, 2023, includes travel days at each end, seven days of riding, and three days of rest (you can also spend this time riding horse!).

The tour begins in Florence, the capital city of the Tuscan region world-renowned for its food, wine, and Renaissance art and architecture. Arrive a few days early to have time to visit the iconic Duomo, Michelangelo’s David sculpture, Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” and da Vinci’s “Annunciation.” You’ll also want to stroll the historic streets and enjoy gelato!
During the first two days of horseback riding, we’ll take the little-known, winding roads through the Appenines to Perugia, the capital of Umbria, known for the defensive walls surrounding the historic city center. history, then to Santo Stefano di Sessanio, a medieval town located in the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park, where we will spend a day of rest.
Next, we’ll continue south for an overnight stay in the small village of Serre di Conca, after which we’ll set off for the legendary Amalfi Coast overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Gulf of Salerno. A popular resort destination, the Amalfi Coast is known for its steep cliffs, secluded beaches and pastel-painted fishing villages.
From the Amalfi Coast, we’ll explore more backstreets on our way to the mountain village of Morano Calabro, located near a 3,600-foot pass. On the third and final day of rest, we will drive to Matera, the European Capital of Culture 2019. The city is perched on a cliff in the Basilicata region, and nearby is the Sassi area, an archipelago. The cave dwellings are carved into the mountainside.
The tour ends in Bari, a port city on the Adriatic Sea, the capital of Italy’s Puglia region. Bari’s labyrinthine old town, known as Barivecchia, occupies a headland between two harbours.
