LOS ANGELES — Jeremy Renner attended the premiere of his new series on Tuesday, marking a dramatic recovery less than four months after the “Avengers” star nearly died in a snow shovel accident.

Renner is surrounded by family and supporters at Rennervations premiere in Los Angeles, where he posed for photos and conducted interviews, sometimes using a cane and a knee scooter. At one point, he gave the photographers a thumbs up as he moved down the carpet.

Renner was crushed by his 7-ton snow plow on New Year’s Day while trying to help unload a relative’s vehicle at his home in Nevada. The actor said he broke many bones and suffered a collapsed lung and a perforated liver in the accident.

Rennervations, which premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, follows Renner as he turns big cars into community spaces for young people in India, Mexico, Chicago and Nevada. Purposes range from serving as a mobile music studio to a water purification truck for a community in India.

Renner said his goal is to give young people access to things they may not have had, and to offer opportunities they may not have known existed.

Renner wrote the show’s theme song, which he did while doing another show.

“I use music and piano to write songs and use it as therapy for me,” he says.

Construction and music are the source of creativity for Renner, who is best known for playing the superhero Hawkeye in the Marvel movie “Avengers” and his own TV spin-off.

Marvel co-star Anthony Mackie appeared on the show, and Renner said the secret of their friendship is that they “laugh a lot”.

Renner, a two-time Academy Award nominee, told Diane Sawyer in a broadcast interview that while he thought he might die of his injuries, he refuse to be “haunted” by accident.
