Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis signs multi-fight deal with UK’s Matchroom

Eddie Hearn and Matchroom have just scored a significant win.

The UK-based promotional company has signed talented 147-pound champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis to a multi-fight deal in partnership with Boots Promotions, Matchroom announced in a news release today. Wednesday.

Ennis, who was previously affiliated with Premier Boxing Champions, is expected to return to the ring in the summer.

The 26-year-old from Philadelphia has not played since he stopped the Roiman villa in 10 rounds to defend his “interim” IBF title last July. He was later elevated to full champion after Terence Crawford was stripped of the title.

Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs) is considered by many to be a potential pound-for-pound king.

Ennis said: “I am delighted for this partnership with Eddie Hearn, Matchroom and DAZN. “I can’t wait to continue making my mark and become the undisputed world champion. I’ve been out of the ring for a year and I can’t wait to get back and do what I do best: entertain the fans and put on clinics.

“There are blockbuster fights coming up for me and I’m ready to do them.”

Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Sport, said: “Wow! What a signing! I’ve been watching this young man for many years and I’ve always believed he was going to be the greatest fighter, and I have no doubt that he is already the greatest fighter in the division. To win the race to sign Jaron is a major coup for Matchroom Boxing and DAZN.

“Holding the IBF title in one of boxing’s glamor divisions puts Jaron front and center for some of the biggest fights in the sport and we intend to put them in his hands. Jaron has everything it takes to become a household name both in sports and at the heart of the sport in his hometown of Philadelphia, where we are committed to building him up.

“Fight fans can be excited for his return in the summer as he looks to hunt down the biggest fights that will elevate him up the pound-for-pound list.”

Neither Hearn nor Ennis hinted at who he might face under his new contract but his most intriguing potential opponent is rival Conor Benn, who is also linked to Matchroom. Ennis vs. Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) will be an important fight in the UK
