Jameson Williams Injury Update: Alabama WR Leaves National Championships Against Georgia With Knee Injury
Alabama wide spotter Jameson Williams had to be taken off the field during the second half of Tide’s national championship game against Georgia on Monday.
Williams caught a deep midway pass from Bryce Young but clumsily turned around after he made a welcome, reaching the 40-meter Georgia 35-yard line. He immediately reached his left knee after hitting the court, and he couldn’t put any weight on his foot when he stepped over the touchline.
Williams was finally able to walk herself from the medical tent to the dressing room in Alabama.

ESPN’s Holly Rowe reported in the third quarter that Williams would not be returning to the game.
After the game, Alabama coach Nick Saban said the Crimson Tide won’t know the full extent of the injury until Williams undergoes an MRI, but he said the player wants to be back in the game in the second half. However, Saban said the medical staff removed him from the match.
If Williams is unable to return to the game, the Crimson Tide is expected to be without their top player at offense apart from Young. Williams is a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award after he makes 75 1,507-yard passes with 15 touchdowns in 2021. His yards received ranks fifth among FBS receivers while his tally is fifth. His touch is third.

The Crimson Tide lost their second lead receiver in the SEC championship game when John Metchie tore his ACL. Metchie had 1,142 ball receptions over 96 contacts and eight touches.
After Williams and Metchie, no other receiver on the team has received more than 400 yards. Slade Bolden is third with 364 yards, while Cameron Latu is third with seven touchdowns.

The injury to Williams comes about three months before the NFL Draft, where Williams is expected to be among the first to take money off the board. Sports news Williams is currently the number 14 player in his class.
