James Corden almost a resident of the Shire.
On the December 27 episode of Mixed happiness and sadness podcasts, the Late The host confirmed that he auditioned for Peter Jackson2001 film of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
“Everybody in London auditioned for Lord of the Rings,” he told host Josh Horowitz. “Everyone. I auditioned for Samwise. I’m doing vocals and everything.”
Although the audition process “didn’t go well” for Corden, the late-night presenter shared that he got a second chance when he was called back. “Two other friends of mine went in [to audition] and then we were all called back the next day,” he recalls. “Then we were called back the next day.”
But, as fans of the franchise know, Corden didn’t reserve the role. In fact, according to Corden, “None of us were called back after that.”
Finally, Samwise’s role ended in the hands of The Goonies alum Sean Astin.
