Jake Paul Says Rahman Jr Fight “May Not Happen”
The Paytime Pay-Per-View event between Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr is in jeopardy.
‘Son of the Problem’ is originally set to fight Tommy Fury at Madison Square Garden on August 6 but the fight was called into question when Brit tried to board a plane to America for his first press conference but was denied entry.
After many times going back and forth on social networks the fight was officially canceled last week and Paul named Rahman Jr, the son of former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman Sr., as their new opponent.
Momentum begins to build when sparring footage has been ‘leaked’ shows Paul landing a heavy bullet at Rahman and the two falling into a violent melee.
Amazingly, Paul is now saying the fight against his new rival ‘may not even happen’ as Rahman tries to renegotiate his contract.
Speaking on Time MMA with Ariel Helwaniamerican says:
“Some news dedicated to you Ariel.”
“Hasim Rahman Jr is currently trying to renegotiate his contract.”
“We signed last week for 10 times what he was ever paid for any of his fights and now, boom, fast forward a week and he’s trying to suck up as much money as possible. than from the war.”
He went on to say that the fight is now at risk:
“He’s trying to do whatever he can to make money, because I think he realizes the consequences of what could happen.”
“I think he was scared to fight me. I think at first a lot of them were excited for the money but when they really started fighting and entered the camp they were all disqualified.”
“Who knows if this fight will happen at this point because we won’t pay him more, he doesn’t deserve it.”
The YouTuber then said that he originally wanted Nate Diaz to join:
“I was hoping that Nate Diaz could get out [UFC] contract because I believe Nate Diaz will really fight me.”
“He’s not scared like most professional boxers.”
When asked again if there was a chance the fight with Rahman Jr did not happen, he simply replied:
“Yes, 100%.”
