“There are a lot of bad people in boxing,” veteran boxer Ivan Redkach tweeted on Sunday, “who ruin fighters’ lives and break their dreams, it breaks my heart. I’m tired of boxing. I have been loyal to boxing when a boxer has his hands tied, he can’t fight (sic). It’s not clear what prompted the 36-year-old Ukrainian boxer to make the post. What’s not clear, however, is that his much-anticipated fight with Adrien Broner could fail – if it hasn’t broken. Subsequent tweets make it clear that Redkach is not blaming Broner or Broner’s promoter, BLK, for any possible situation.
“Thank you so much BLK. for a chance,” Redkach said in a second tweet. “I was stolen in the match of my dreams. Boxing is my life. I came to the boxing gym when I was 6 years old thanks to my fans. I let my team down, my family. My fans, all of you are waiting for this match. error it happened! sorry (sic). With that in mind, Redkach tweeted again, showing that he really wants to take on Broner.
“This fight with @AdrienBroner will happen regardless of the possibilities,” Redkach added in the third tweet, “we both want it! there are people who don’t want this, I respect Adrian and BLK for all his merits (sic).” Apparently these tweets left more questions than answers. For example, who is Redkach upset with? Furthermore, did he really intend to fight Broner? If so, under what conditions and circumstances? The man seemed unhappy with BLK, Broner’s ad shop, or Broner himself.
Redkach 23-6-2-2 has been a mainstay in the fighting game for a while, having fought the likes of Danny Garcia, Regis Prograis, Devon Alexander and Tevin Farmer. Despite his tendency to lose in big fights, the man was undefeated in his first 19 fights and was only stopped by Prograis, John Molina Jr and Dejan Zlaticanan, all of whom are notable boxers. mind when they faced Redkach.
As for Broner, he is looking to rejuvenate his career once again. If he’s serious, a fight with Redkach is a good place to start. Both men can certainly use victory and – even more importantly – the match could make for an interesting fight. Suffice to say, their pay-per-view is expected to drop on February 25th.
