Is the World of Hyatt credit card worth the annual fee?


Hotel credit cards are very interesting. They tend to offer a lot of benefits to the hotel brand associated with the card, but are usually not a strong card for your day-to-day spending.

And just because a card is popular with others doesn’t mean it’s right for your wallet. The Hyatt World Credit Card has many fans and comes with an annual fee of just $95, but that alone doesn’t mean the annual fee is worth it.

Here’s what you get from the World of Hyatt card each year so you can decide for yourself.

Free night every year

As a cardholder, you’ll get Discoverist status for free every year. As the second lowest status tier in the World of Hyatt, TPG values ​​Discoverer status for only $165 per year.

With a personal World of Hyatt card, you can also earn two qualifying night credits toward status for every $5,000 spent on the card. You can do much better than a 1.7% return on daily spending with other credit cards, but you should consider how these purchases can be more valuable when helping you earn Tier 1-4 free nights rewards and tier-eligible nights each year.

The free night you get each year as a World of Hyatt cardholder will easily offset the $95 annual fee. Other benefits — such as the points-earning structure and free elite status — vary in value depending on how you use them.
