Irv Gotti has criticized Ashanti online for telling Angie Martinez in an interview that she is remaking her greatest hits to release herself.
“@angiemartinez just to be super clear. I own all those amazing Ashanti albums Angie. I own the originals. And I produced all those great Ashanti albums. So I own too. part of good publishing. What she’s trying to do is re-capture all those great records and put them on her label,” he wrote on Angie’s post.
“She can do this according to the COVER law. But she’s basically trying to get me out of my Master program. And get people to decide which albums to listen to or stream. Hope those her loyal fans will choose her version,” he added.
“But hey. I stand on the Magic that was made. And I want to see her duplicate that Magic. It’s really hard. But such is life.”
Ashanti did not respond to his comment.
