Introducing the fully customizable Origin character The Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3 – PlayStation.Blog

Everything you do during your play Baldur Gate 3 affect your journey. And it starts at the character creation screen.

Each character’s class, race, background, and Origin has ripple effects on the world around you, triggering subtle permutations that alter the Forgotten Kingdom in big and small ways, good, bad, interesting and sometimes very bad.

What is the original character? They’re basically playable heroes, each with their own stories, desires, and attitudes toward the world around you. If you don’t play them, they become companions, people you may (or may not) recruit along your journey.

You may have met Shadowheart, Wyll, Gale, Astarion, Lae’zel, and Karlach – heroes with their own stories to tell, driven by your choices as the player. Of course, you can also customize your character and create a brand new avatar, weaving their story through your actions with the same depth and response.

Today, however, we’re looking at a whole new way to play Baldur’s Gate 3. The Dark Urge. A brand new customizable Origin, The Dark Urge can be made into any of the 11 races you want, but with their own Origin-like Dark Urge story as the backbone for your adventure.

Given a series of malevolent reactions to Baldur’s Gate, let’s talk about Dark Urges.

Become the dark urge

The dark urge embodies the darkest corners of the moral sphere. With alabaster skin and a giant dragon frame, The Dark Urge’s pre-designed is a majestic design, glaring back with the piercing gaze of a predator. However, this is also a fully customizable character. Its class, appearance, species and gender are entirely up to you. After all, evil can dwell within anyone, no matter how they appear.

If you’ve followed the community-driven murder mystery Blood in Baldur’s Gate, you’ll be familiar with Dark Urge’s simple yet effective way of working: killing people indiscriminately and indiscriminately. The dark urge is driven to commit some of the worst acts of violence you will encounter in the game and playing this character you will either satisfy your most depraved impulses or resist they. We hope this character whetches the appetite of horror fans and those looking for a more sinister character to inhabit in their playthrough.

Stepping into the role of Dark Urge, you start Baldur’s Gate 3 with memory lost after an unfortunate encounter between a parasitic tadpole and your brain. Now all that remains is an insatiable urge. An urge to make it known in your subconscious, through your deepest thoughts and in your dialogue choices. Dark Urge gives players the chance to explore their dark side and let their subconscious urges rise to the surface in the form of sinister reactions and permutations.

Dark Urge’s customizable origins hold many secrets, but you must discover what they are and where this brutal new darkness comes from.

Just as an innocent squirrel, pushed with all its might off a cliff, meets a tragic end, so too does the slim hope of those unfortunate enough to meet you on the road. The dark urge is guided by Sceleritas Fel, your lowly and loyal servant who only lives to see you return to your righteous bloody path. His words of encouragement are like poison in your mind, fueling your impulses. But it’s a poison that tastes like honey if you get too hung up on it.

Despite your urges as The Dark Urge, you’re still part of the team facing the arduous journey to the Baldur Gate. Your team – despite your urges – will do its best to be there for you and for those you are closest to, you can still form relationships and romances. However, how they perform compared to the others is a story that only you will know when Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on September 6 on PlayStation 5.
