For guardians looking for cooperative thrills

Play around with your friends and turn up the heat to see how far your honed teamwork skills can go? Meet Onslaught, a new wave-based defense operation where teams of three will face increasingly challenging waves of enemies bent on destroying your Advanced Defense Units.

This is a new playstyle in Destiny 2 that gets even more interesting once you start building upgrades like turrets (so far mainly aimed at Guardians) and decoys (so far only wiped out after Guardian).

“We’ve had turrets in the game for a while now, but they’ve rarely been on our side,” said Clayton Kisko, a designer on the Destiny 2 team. “Being able to support such a high concentration of enemies is exciting. It’s really rewarding when a turret you or your teammates build will support you when you’re surrounded by enemies.”

But who is cleaning up the mess these turrets create? Well, it turns out your lure comes with a brush. “It’s a Scanning Robot!” Kisko said. “They are very good at attracting the attention of enemies and corralling them for the perfect grenade throwing opportunity. And they started scanning immediately. Enemies cannot withstand this simple trick that Sweeper Bot performs. Just watch as they surround it with hatred.”

Lures can be upgraded to Redjacks and ultimate secret versions. Just make sure someone on the team is building them because this neat piece of technology could be the difference between winning and wiping out the entire team.

“Things get more complicated as you progress through the waves and eventually get to the point where if everyone dies at the same time the run is over. On Legendary difficulty, this is how Onslaught works from the start! We can’t wait to see how everyone works together, masters the mechanics, and gets through the final wave.”

For the perfectionist guardians of the speed demon

Are you a fan of puzzles and tightly crafted combat encounters that can be played with a group of three (but maybe you secretly can’t wait to play alone)?

For you, we have two of the highest rated Exotic missions ever made in Destiny 2. Both The Whisper and Zero Hour along with their Exotic weapons are back and they have been updated. Japan.

Mike Profeta, one of the designers who worked on the new version of Zero Hour, talked about how the team was able to stay true to the mission experience while also making it feel modern and challenging despite What became of the powerful, god-killing Guardians.

“We explored a number of options to try and match the difficulty of the original, but things didn’t seem quite right. Then, during development, we opened up the old version of the game and recorded all the unique activity options present in the original mission. We copied them as closely as possible, made some small adjustments and additions, and that was our eureka moment; it made a difference and suddenly it felt exactly like Zero Hour.”

Sometimes what makes a classic game new is how we’ve changed it and what we’ve learned to help us play it in new ways. The highlight of this is that Zero Hour’s maze… you know, the maze… features robots. Don’t look at it!

“We made no changes to the path players take through the Old Tower,” Profeta said. “The jumping puzzles and combat beats are all there, and we look forward to seeing how players use all of their new Guardian tools to overcome these obstacles faster than ever run out of.”

For collectors who love gear

Are you the type of player who wants… well, everything? Do you need your device to look impressive? Could you make a more perfect Exotic if you could craft them?

“When crafting Exotics, players can fine-tune their experience while still maintaining the original look of the weapon,” said a designer on the Destiny 2 team. “With Whisper of the Worm, added barrel and magazine options will allow players to customize their version of the Sniper Rifle; for example, it may be decided to maximize stability to make crits easier. Outbreak Perfected is similar. The thrill of setting the trigger and spraying SIVA nanites is still there, but now players can choose a perk like Rewind to help them sustain their damage output for longer before reloading.

Like these two impressive Exotics, we’ve also included a collection of weapons called the BRAVE armory. If you’ve heard the names Midnight Coup, Edge Transit or Hung Jury SR4 then you’ll know the level of weaponry we’re talking about here. If those names are new to you, you’ll have a unique opportunity to experience these weapons for the first time in their newly upgraded form.

The BRAVE Arsenal includes 12 weapons so dangerous that they were outlawed by Vanguard… until now. And for those with an aesthetic sense, each weapon has a chance to appear as a limited edition foil variant.

“In addition to their unique appearance, they are also completely made with master technology. They also have a unique treatment on the tiger stripe-like symbols so you can still identify the foil version in your inventory even if you remove the ornament to apply a shadow.”

Everyone is welcome

In Destiny 2: Into the Light, you’ll be able to choose a starter set containing carefully selected gear and subclass abilities. Thunder God’s Gift is also available if you want more gear to keep up with your friends at lightning speed.

So, build a friendly Robot Sweeper, create the perfect Whisper and join us in the Hall of Champions where we will use our foil weapons, Superblack shaders and get ready to duel with Eyewitness when The Final Shape debuts on June 4.
