When telling stories on the small screen, the beauty plays the main role.
Just ask Daisy Jones and Six Head of make-up department Rebecca Wachtelwho animated Prime Video’s 70s-inspired rock ‘n’ roll show with a look that evoked the highs and lows of the fictional band.
“Makeup plays a huge role,” Rebecca tells E! News in an exclusive interview. “It creates images.”
For example, Daisy Jones (do Riley Keough) underwent the biggest transformation in the group as fame sucked her in and pushed her out. By using certain eyeshadow colors and makeup products, Rebecca paints a picture of what the rock star is going through.
The make-up artist explained: ‘She has a fresh face, she’s in the sun, that’s 70s style. “But then she started to become famous and put on a little more makeup. We did the whole range to show her transition from soullessness and drug addiction. And when she accepts Actually So far, she’s washed her hair and put on heavy makeup, which isn’t the Daisy we knew before.”
As Rebecca said, “You could tell something was wrong.”
