With Today’s trailer for the Super Mario Bros. Movie., we first get to know Jack Black as the menacing Bowser. But the trailer isn’t just streaming online. Nintendo and Illumination brought the film to New York Comic Con (run by ReedPop, Hookshot Media was partnered with), where Jack Black made a special appearance.
Filmed and shared by Popverse, Jack Black brought all his enthusiasm to the stage with him. He’s completely taken on the role of Bowser – he has a cover of his own, a flaming beard and wears yellow clothes to ‘look like’ Bowser. And, atop the throne, the actor had a few small anecdotes and teases to share during a short Q&A session.
Sharing his famous love of video games – where he says he remembers getting started with the original Donkey Kong in the ’80s – the musician and comedian revealed he’s touched into the “deep dark insecurities” that many movie and video game villains have. yes. In the film, Black says that Bowser has a “sensitive side” and that he feels he’s not loved enough, though he also reveals that some of Black’s own love and musical influence has seeped into the role. to act:
“Well, you know, I brought some of my heavy metal roots with me because – in a way – Bowser was like a heavy metal rock star. You know, a big rock star , strong and scary, and I’ve done a bit of rock, I think you’d be surprised to see that Bowser has a musical bent. I’m thinking after the movie comes out, I’ll take it to Broadway, yes There might be a performance for one person.”
Jack Black is rarely was seen in a movie that did not show his love of music and heavy metal, but the idea of Bowser cut into piecs We are really attractive. If he is, of course! But rumors of the Mario Movie potentially becoming a musical have been circulating since April of this year – though someone on Reddit last September questioned the film’s ability to become a musical given the film’s stacked cast and their degrees.
Black followed this up with another amusing comment when he mentioned how enjoyable he and the cast recorded the voiceover for the film: “I had a lot of fun, I have to admit. . We had an impromptu ball, a little bit of magic, a little bit of music. Good luck.”
Of course, this can be just a little fun. Or maybe Bowser got a solo, or a moment where he was getting into a heavy metal version of his theme? Basically, it looks like Black and the cast had a blast. While we’d love to see the birth of Tenacious B. If Kyle Gass has a role in the movie, we might have something of a band here…
