How often do you find yourself stressed out in your daily life? Do you sometimes feel extreme emotions unlike your own? Do you overreact or feel out of control when exposed to certain situations or people?

These feelings are very common; In fact, everyone experiences them throughout their daily lives. But we often don’t know the real reason behind our emotions or how to regulate them.

What is hypnotherapy?

To understand what hypnotherapy is, we should first understand hypnosis. Hypnotherapy uses ‘hypnosis’ as a state to help people apply therapeutic tools. When a client comes to see a hypnotherapist, the therapist induces this natural state of hypnosis by feeding the client multiple units of messages that tend to help the client relax. These message units create a distraction for the conscious part of the mind by bombarding it in a specific, trained way using misdirection, ego sense, and affective emotion.

The client then returns to their subconscious and becomes very suggestible to make change, access hidden parts of themselves, and receive therapy. Hypnosis is a pleasurable state in a controlled environment where overactivity of the senses occurs, causing extreme receptivity (John G. Kappas, Ph.D, 2009).

What causes an unexpected extreme emotional reaction?

In hypnotherapy, we operate from the premise that this is not the first time we are feeling any of the emotions we are feeling in the moment; Surely we have felt this way before somewhere or another time. Extreme emotional reactions, or unwanted feelings we experience, are often triggered by external circumstances, people, or times.

Those external stimuli are called triggers. A trigger is a backlash to a trauma or painful event that we have experienced, be it during our early adolescence or childhood. The limbic system and part of our brain respond to triggers without any sense of time, or development, that we have experienced; the brain still reacts in the same way as if the external circumstances that created the trigger are happening right now (David Ricco, Triggers, 2019).

In that sense, whatever unwanted or exaggerated emotion we are feeling in that moment is not the actual emotion to which we react to those stimuli; a part of us that is not healed or acknowledged has been activated and unearthed these feelings from our subconscious.

How can hypnotherapy really help?

Using hypnotherapy, like any other form of therapy, can help you explore, process, and acknowledge these emotions, removing those outer layers of symptoms or behaviors to uncover underlying issues. The core problem or initial trauma continues to pass through our subconscious and affect our behavior and emotions. As a result, hypnotherapy helps us reduce these symptoms, regulate our emotions, and feel calmer and more stable when exposed to the same triggers.

Hypnotherapy uses a variety of therapeutic tools in a state of hypnosis (hypnosis) to access the subconscious part of the mind, create change, heal, and integrate the parts that have been affected or frozen in time. Use a variety of tools, such as child introspection and ego therapy, to address childhood traumas, attachments, and established external influences ego, although sometimes these parts do not belong to the ego state, like attachment to a childhood friend or a deceased family member.

In addition, hypnotherapy uses regression therapies in a safe, controlled way to deal with trauma or feelings experienced early on, in a way that will eventually acknowledge, heal, and feel. Accept those feelings fully. During a hypnotherapy session, mechanical ventilation is very common, and releasing the emotion in that space is very important and positive, because if you can’t feel it, you can’t feel it. can really heal.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

A lot of misconceptions about hypnotherapy have become popular due to media or television portrayals of hypnosis and stage hypnosis, but hypnosis is nothing like you see in the media. .

Hypnosis is a natural state that we enter gently at least twice a day: once before going to sleep, and once when we wake up in the morning. Hypnosis is very similar to delta state, which is a very relaxed meditative state, half asleep, half dreaming. Usually, meditators are very familiar with this state, and can enter it easily and quickly.

Hypnotherapy is a safe practice when conducted by a trained and certified therapist. I generally recommend less than 50 minutes of ecstasy to avoid fatigue, false memories, or drifting off to sleep. Hypnotherapy should be an interactive process of therapy, so clients and therapists need to protect their energies and create those safeguards.

What problems is hypnotherapy good for?

Hypnotherapy can be effective in managing a variety of ailments and concerns. I have met with clients about various presenting issues, such as anger issues, unwanted habits, indecision, bad breakups and constraints, blocks of money, physical pain and anxiety, who have had significant results after a few sessions.

In short, hypnotherapy can be used for anything, because of its integrative nature of combining different tools and modalities to address client challenges. As a result, it helps regulate and stabilize emotions.
