The yakuza the series is no stranger to extremely weird side stories, and Like a Dragon: Ishin is no different. We’ve seen people in diapers. Obatarian has completely defeated Goro, is Mad Dog, Majima. However, even with all that, I really didn’t expect to see a Like a Dragon: Ishin substory house contains sumo wrestlers.

If you haven’t encountered this, you probably haven’t spent much time in Gion. After you complete the story, you will open up this district with more adult pursuits. Ryoma ended up there because of work-related business, and I thought it was worth it to catch the palanquin for a quick ride back to Fushimi. However, as I was walking there, a man stopped me.
He explained that he just opened a new brothel and hasn’t really attracted much attention yet. As one yakuza series veteran, I knew better than to turn down any side opportunities, and I opted in to any Like a Dragon: Ishin one I can out of curiosity. I had avoided all prostitute activities before, but I had to see if there was a turning point.
Boy, was there.
For the credit of this substory, it’s committed to the bit. Ryoma is taken to a brothel! The owner asked what kind of person would be his type. You can choose “a person who is diligent and tireless”, “a person skillful in bringing joy” or “a person with a perfect body”. Only after you make that choice will that happen.
Sumo wrestlers appear.
Depending on your answer, you will see one of three sumo appear. Commitment is still 100% original. Regardless of which answer you choose, he will affirm how special that particular sumo is. That, in a way, was heartwarming. He completely trusts his employees. He also realizes their worth, saying that Ryoma needs to pay 10 ryo.
Of course, you disagree with that. This is crazy. Which means all three sumo at Like a Dragon: Ishin The sumo brothel comes to try to defeat Ryoma.
Honestly, the victory ended up being quite heartwarming. The owner still has complete confidence in his special escorts, but promises to be more honest about exactly what kind of brothel he runs. There is no condemnation for those who want to spend an evening with a sumo wrestler. The owner admitted his wrongdoing in the misunderstanding. You also get 3 ryo which is always appreciated.
The Like a Dragon: Ishin The Soft and Supple side story really encapsulates the extremes yakuza series can hit. It may refer to some truly unexpected concepts and tastes, but do so in a way that doesn’t feel offensive or offensive. It’s delightfully silly and I appreciate that it can still maintain that tone after all these years.
