It’s a feature just added to rival ChatGPT Google Bard. You can request photos directly, as you might have done in standard Google web search, and you can also get photos that match your text.
In it update log, Google says that images can “bring concepts to life, make suggestions more persuasive, and enhance responses when you request visual information.” In other words, it can add a bit of power to Bard-generated text, whether it’s explaining scientific concepts or recommending restaurants.
At the time of this writing, image generation is not something ChatGPT can do—the OpenAI bot is entirely text-based, although it can display text in a variety of formats, including tables. .

At least for now, there’s no toggle to turn images on or off in the usual results Bard generates when you ask a question: The bot will only include images if it thinks they’ll be useful .
Some of the searches we did with images were for bar recommendations, explanations of how optical illusions work, and queries about the first plane in action.
When we asked for an explanation of what DNA is or a summary of the Battle of Hastings, no images were included in Bard’s output. However, you can specifically request relevant images or illustrations in your query, and the Google Bard will always accommodate that request.
