Trello has slowly but surely become the cornerstone of my project management. With Trello, not only can I manage my different projects using different tools like Kanban, Gantt, multiple workspaces, templates, swimways and more, but I can also add more important data to individual cards.

The ability to add substantial details to a card means you can give your team more than enough information to complete the task at hand. And this is a case where more is definitely better. When you don’t provide the necessary details for a task, your team can become confused or simply don’t have the information they need to complete any task.

So I’m constantly looking for more ways to add details to my cards. One feature I’ve started using recently is checklists, which help team members quickly check on subtasks completed, tools achieved, or even individual team members. Teams sign up when they understand what is at stake with the mission. There is really no limit to what you can use the checklist in your card.

One very useful aspect of the Trello checklist feature is that once you’ve created a checklist, items can be imported into other checklists on other cards. This reusability makes this feature even more efficient to use because you can create multiple checklists and then quickly import items.

Let’s dig in and see how this feature works.

What you need

The only things you need to work with the Trello Kanban card checklist are a Trello account and a board to use. This feature is available for all plan types, so even if you are on the Free plan, you can use the checklist.

With that said, let’s get to work.

How to add a Trello checklist to a card

Sign in to your Trello account, go to the workspace, and open the board you want to use. Once you are on the board in question, open a card that you want to add to the checklist.

In the card, you will see the Checklist item on the right side of the card (Picture A).

After creating the checklist, you’ll see it appear near the bottom of the card (SIZE), where you can start adding items.

Our checklist is ready for items.

In the Add an item field, type your first item for the checklist and press Enter on your keyboard. This will save the item and allow you to enter another entry. Continue adding items this way until you complete the checklist.

After adding all your items to the checklist, you can close the tag. Using the checklist is very simple. One cool feature I’ve found with this is that when you check an item from the list, it doesn’t go away and you also see a progress bar, so you know when all the items are processed. physical (Visualization).

Huzzah! We have taken care of all of our items on the checklist.

How to Reuse a Trello Checklist

Switch to another card and create a new checklist. After naming the list, click the Copy Item From drop-down menu and select the checklist you created earlier (Figure E).

Add items from the previous checklist to the new list.

This will populate your new checklist with the items you added earlier, so you don’t have to completely recreate the checklist for every card. Click Add and your checklist will be created for the card.

And that’s all it takes to add a checklist Trello card. This handy feature will not only make it possible for you to perform your project management tasks in more detail, but it will also help you do so more efficiently.
