This Model S said to be the world’s most traveled distance Teslawith the odometer recently hitting the 2 million km mark.
Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg, of Germany, achieved this milestone earlier this month. He reached the 1 million km mark in 2019.
The Tesla owner took his 2014 Model S P90, which he bought used, with about 30,000km on the odometer, on multiple long-distance trips including to China. He is taking another long-distance trip this month through Africa.
Mr. von Gemmingen-Hornberg said Watt Energy in November 2023, he will use his fourth battery pack, with one set lasting 670,000km and another at 505,000km.
But he said he had more problems with electric motors and said he experienced 13 of them.
One had run 780,000km without any problems, he said.
Mr. von Gemmingen-Hornberg said he did not charge the battery to 100% but also did not let it drop below 10%. He claims his actual range is about 400km.

He mostly charges at home, where he has solar panels installed, but of course still relies on Tesla’s Supercharger network when traveling.
He also didn’t have to pay anything for network usage because his Model S was sold with free Supercharging for life.
