Transporting members just got a little easier for the Indiana Horsemen’s Protection and Mercy Association (HBPA). The organization received a shuttle from Indianapolis horseshoeadd a much-needed benefit to the people they serve on the track.
“The Indiana HBPA greatly appreciates this donation and it will go to great use,” said Joe Davis, Indiana HBPA President. “Donating this shuttle bus will allow us to use it for our hard-won benevolence initiatives as well as our pastoral programs.”
Currently, Indiana HBPA provides transportation to people living and working in Horseshoe Indianapolis, many of whom do not have transportation for weekly essentials such as food, medicine, and supplies. other individuals. Indiana HBPA steps in to assist with trips for these people, and by adding shuttles to their amenities, services will be more efficient and streamlined for those in need, including two trips per week to Wal-Mart in Shelbyville for the purpose of essential items such as food, prescriptions, and other personal items.
Davis added: “The addition of the Shuttle will also give us a way to transport individuals to celebration gatherings and other events related to our pastoral program. “The space shuttle will be a multi-purpose vehicle for our organization.”
Indiana HBPA currently has two chaplains serving the latter class. Otto Thorwarth, a former jockey, and Mickey Sajche, the bilingual minister who also serves at Centro Cristiano Bethesda in east Indianapolis, provide all forms of support to those who live and work at the racecourse. . Daily prayer sessions are provided for riders prior to races as well as weekly bible study, hospital visits, transportation needs as well as spiritual mentoring and guidance. The Chaplaincy Department also regularly organizes food gatherings, ice cream exchanges and speaker functions. The addition of a shuttle service will give them increased and enhanced ability to attend events outside of the hotel.
