Someone tried to resuscitate the baby, but the baby was gone.”

Alphonso Word said he was just a few cars away from the intersection when the collision happened “like a bomb”.

“Like I said, it’s the kids. That’s what touched me more than anything, the kids, who didn’t get a chance. The mother is probably happy that she has a baby,” Word said.

The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash. It identified the driver of the speeding Mercedes as a woman in her 40s who suffered serious injuries.

“It’s just not clear the reason for the high speed at this point… People need to drive more carefully because so many crashes happen and this just happens to be at the top of the list in terms of how bad they are. encountered,” said CHP spokesman Franco Pepsi in a statement to the media.
