It’s safe to say that Honda has been left behind in the electric vehicle space, but the company is making a comeback. Earlier this year, they announced the new 0 (Zero) electric vehicle series for the global market, but for China, the Japanese automaker is developing a new series of electric models called Ye.

Not to be confused with the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, the new sub-brand Ye (Mandarin for “shining brightly”) will launch at Auto China in Beijing next week, initially including the P7 and S7 SUVs as well as the GT Concept sedan.

All three cars look much more production-ready than the 0 Space Hub and Saloon concepts – not surprising since the P7 and S7 go on sale later this year. Both crossovers appear to be nearly identical, featuring a wraparound windshield design, sloping rear windshield, and thick D-pillars reminiscent of the Avancier and China-only UR-V.

The difference lies in the front and rear treatment, especially the full-width headlights and taillights – the P7 has the usual C-shaped details, while the S7 has special X and H graphics respectively in front and rear. We can safely assume that each model will be produced and sold exclusively through Honda’s two local joint ventures, GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda.

What both models have in common are features that first appeared on the Honda e, such as sliding door handles and side-view cameras. They also feature the new Honda branding that debuted on the 0 series, including the old-style borderless H logo at the front and evenly spaced Honda text at the rear; Honda branding also appears on the front door. Unlike previous Honda EVs, the charging ports are located on the front fenders, not on the front.

Inside, the P7 and S7 continue the template set by the HR-V-based e:N1, equipped with a large portrait-format touchscreen in the middle and a widescreen digital clock display up front rider. Unlike on the e:N1, the instrument display is placed higher on the dashboard closer to the driver’s line of sight, necessitating the installation of a flat steering wheel with Honda lettering.

Other features include an AI-based voice control system, illuminated dashboard and door cards that light up based on certain functions. There are no mechanical details yet, but it has been confirmed that the P7 and S7 will be offered in rear- and all-wheel drive.

Meanwhile, the GT Concept previews a new sedan that will go on sale in late 2025. This low-slung four-door has a much sportier design, with the same X-shaped headliner and taillight graphics as the S7 , deeply vented fenders, Formula 1-style rear fog lights and what appears to be a split rear windshield – similar to the old CR-Z and Insight.

But it’s inside that Honda has really gone crazy with lots of red trim, an almost yoke-style steering wheel and no less than six screens, including one on the center console (which includes also the touch gear selector. ) and another one for the front passenger. Honda says this provides “an immersive space similar to a private theater.” R button on the steering wheel, similar to the center control button on the center console Citizen type Rhinting that there will eventually be a Type R version – interesting to say the least.

Honda said it plans to introduce six Ye models by 2027, and when combined with the e:NP1 and e:NS1 (the Chinese market version of the e:N1), the company will launch 10 models. electricity in China at that time. It’s unknown what the two missing models are, but the company aims to become an electric vehicle-only brand in China by 2035.
