Homemade Demon Shin Megami Tensei – Terminator

I was a demon (Summoner)

[Destructoid alumni The Blonde Bass returns with a Shin Megami Tensei-themed entry of the Destructoid Draws series, spotlighting the fine artistic abilities of our community. Amazing work from all, as always!Moyse]

Honestly, I was confused for a while trying to find a suitable topic for this Destructive draw. So far, the Encore series is still trying to mirror the original. Dream Crossovers is the starting point for beloved franchises. Favorite Sidekicks naturally follow from Favorite Villain. And, uh… we did Guilty Gear twice. Like a treat.

But this time around, I don’t know how to keep track of Wednesday’s Destructive Draws: OC Mega Man Robot Master. It’s something special. We were able to let loose our inner kids – and that led to a lot of great designs like Net Man, Soda Man, and Ocean Man. Where do you go from here? Is there anything that can give us the same combination of creative freedom and thematic consistency?

Good, Cactooze give to the rescue, offer Shin megami tensei for this part. It clicks immediately. SMT has been a fascinating blend of characters from across the stories and myths of mankind.

So without further ado, let’s find out what members of the community have come up with!

Vodyanoy

Vodyanoy is like a Slavic Kappa, so I mixed them up a bit. It drowns people for fun… beautiful metal. It will have access to the Bufu tree as there are no water skills in this series. Let’s also give it a gun because that’s also a thing in these games!

(Bass sound: Here’s another reason why Persona 2 objective is superior Personait has Aqua line)

La Corriveau

Beware of Corriveau’s schemes, lest you end up as a dead husband in the trash. Or, legend says. A popular figure in Québecois stories, the only glaring fact about Marie-Josephte Corriveau’s life is that her husband was found dead shortly after the new France came under British rule. The death was first believed to have been an accident, then was investigated for murder on a charge that Corriveau’s father had committed. However, just before his execution, he confessed to being an accomplice to his daughter. In the end, she was executed and put on public display, while he went without a sentence…

This public performance after her execution was dramatic, leading to her story being distorted. Mention of Corriveau in stories and songs often refers to 7 husbands murdered in cold blood, a number that is sure to give chills to both children and adults.

It will be interesting to show her duality as an SMT character. After all, she is a potential victim, of her husband’s treatment, of the accusations made against her if she is innocent, and the way her story has been distorted since. . But as far as SMT goes, she must represent the impression she leaves in the collective unconscious. She’ll probably be a demon in the early to mid game when using Marin Karin to seduce party members along with some powerful physical attacks.

Big bad wolf

I tried to incorporate elements of each story this wolf appeared in in the design. He has wind attacks and weak shots. He wears Little Red Riding Hood’s glasses and cap, and a shepherd’s whistle from the boy crying wolf.

I imagine he would be an early game demon (probably the lowest level Wilder and early game Garu/Zan user). Their interactions might be like, “Why do you smell like a human?” – Because I ate one – “Yes, they are delicious, though, it’s hard to keep in your stomach!”

Perro
Death

Race: Fallen
High Magic, Low Physical Attack
Against: Darkness
Weak: Wind

The Grim Reaper is reimagined as a figure skating kid. I used to draw variations of this guy on my notebook in high school when I was trying to make a metal album cover for a band I never formed with my friends.

RLZ
Jeanne d’Arc

Jeanne d’Arc is a figure in French history, a young woman who led an army against the British invaders after hearing a message from God. She was later sold and burned at the stake, before being canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church.

I see her leading a mostly human army for the Law faction. She will probably become the mandatory mid-level boss/boss soon. While fighting, she will be joined by several Archangels/Powers who will protect her by taking damage instead of her while she powers them up. She also occasionally attacks with Light magic. Even though I drew her surrounded by flames, she is actually very weak to Fire (it would feel wrong to not be pressed when using Agilao on Jeanne) and Dark while being immune to Light. Light and Sickness.

The design is inspired by the song Bigmouth strikes again by The Smiths. I found the idea of her with some headphones pretty funny. The cross on them suggests that they may have been the source of the message she heard.

ZombieCorps
Mazomba

Mazomba is a mythical giant fish of the Chaga people of Tanzania. I don’t know much about it and it’s hard to find much about it online, so I’ll just describe it.

It is a neutral god that only acts when its life or home is threatened. Tanzanians worship Mazomba for its gorgeous blonde hair and almost encyclopedic knowledge of its magic cards and shit.

(Bass sound: I can’t help but form this feeling… It’s like there’s a fake between us.)

Rub! Things get a little weird there at the end, but I hope you enjoy this version of the Destruction Draw. Perhaps you even learned a thing or two this time around? As always, if you have an idea of a mythical character that fits Shin megami tenseiPlease join the comment section!
