Home Security Camera Shows Dog Using the Toilet. Literally.

Just because we sleep through the night, doesn’t necessarily mean our dogs will too. Even if we fall asleep lying next to them, they can get up from the bed without us even knowing it. Who really knows what kind of sleep our canine friends can sleep while we’re happily unknowing in our beds?

A family in Lakeside, California, have found the answer to this kind of mystery, and it’s not quite what they expected. Two proud parents of a young son are also proud parents of a beautiful Pitbull. They keep security cameras in the house to ensure the safety of even their little ones.

Parents sent home security camera footage to Viral Hog explain its origin.

“I came home from work at 5am and saw my son poop in the practice toilet and thought, ‘Strange, how did my wife miss this?’ I checked the cameras and this is what I found.”

What he found was a very intelligent dog.

As the video amazingly reveals, their genius dog used their son’s training toilet when he was the urge to go in the middle of the night.

This can be hard to spot if you’re not paying attention to the workout toilet. At first, the dog was just passing through the living room and it looked like he was going to jump on the chair and sleep. However, he changed his mind really quickly about that and went straight to the small toilet.

There is still some dog-like aspect to this intelligent dog’s actions. He does some sniffing and some circling before starting his business. He then squats directly on the toilet bowl and places his deposit right inside it. When it’s done, the dog just walks away and out of the frame. Immediately and always.

It is not clear whether the dog learned how to do this from observation, from the sense of smell or from great intuition. Either way, it’s pretty impressive stuff! Next step: upgrade him to a real toilet connected to the plumbing.

So, if I were you, I would consider installing security cameras in your entire house or apartment. To protect yourself and your belongings of course, but mostly just to see what your dog is doing when you’re not looking.
