The Board of Directors of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) has appointed Patrick Reilly as a new member of the Standing Committee on Race Safety, effective December 1, 2022. The appointment, on the recommendation of the HISA Nominee Committee, is headed by the Chair Dr. .Nancy Cox, filling the vacancy left by Dr. Peter Hester, who left the Track Safety Standing Committee to join the HISA staff as the National Health Officer.
Reilly, appointed as an independent member, is the Director of Farrier Services in the Department of Clinical Research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine—New Bolton Center. He was formerly the owner of Reilly Farrier Services and a resident Farrier at the Rochester Equine Clinic in Rochester, New Hampshire. Reilly has co-authored works published in the Journal of Equine Veterinary Medicine and the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science and is a graduate of the Midwest Farrier School; Additionally, he recently obtained a degree in Equestrian Studies from the Royal Veterinary College London.
