Her owners decided she didn’t deserve to be eaten, but they fought to prove that she deserved the world.
Angel was deliberately starving and on the verge of death. She was rescued for a period of time. Her organs have begun to shut down. As you can see from her face, she is in pain, weak and scared. Every bone in her body was painfully exposed. Meet Angel and this is her story!

Not only did Angel’s body stop working, so did hers. Being unloved and mistreated for a long time really broke her down. But all that is about to change – now she is being cared for by loved ones.

For a while, it was touch and go. At this stage of starvation, survival is uncertain. But she has really smart people in her corner who know exactly what to do. They feed her small amounts of food during the day. She was also given IV nutrition, antibiotics, and pain medication.

Every day, Angel progressed. As Rescue From The Hart says in their video, “We lent her our strength, until one day she found her own,” is poignant. But as you will see, they were noticed! Angel led them. They see positivity in their eyes and believe them when they tell her she is loved now and will be fine. And then… she stood up on her own! Do you know how unbelievable that is?!

With a steady diet and continued medical care, Angel gained weight. Her body was no longer weak. She looks very healthy and is beginning to understand what a dog is.
She made friends at her foster home and then Angel got the best news possible– Angel has found a permanent home!

While we understand it’s sometimes easier to want to stay happy regardless of animal abuse, that’s not the answer. When you love animals to the core, fighting for their happiness is truly the epitome of compassion. Getting the stories out there, like Angel’s, is how rescue groups exist. They operate on donations from animal lovers like us. It’s not just about giving money. It’s also about sharing stories like Angel’s so people can see exactly what happens when rescuers do their job when they have the resources they need.
