Stonestreet Stables Double Winner Hendy Woods was loved on the morning of 3-1 in a cast of 10 fillings and mares participating for $200,000 Old Forester Mint Julep Stakes (G3T) June 5 at Churchill Downs.
Coached by Mark Casse, Hendy Woods finished fourth in last year’s Mint Julep, clocked 1/16 of a mile on grass. Dear Daughter of Uncle Mo has five wins from 13 that started with bet wins at Indiana Grand Stakes 2020 and One Dreamer Stakes restricted last year at Kentucky Downs.
“She took a break after (October 9) First Lady shares (G1T) and returned Fair Grounds & Slots with us this winter,” said Casse assistant David Carroll at Churchill. I think she ran a reliable last in Modesty (G3T) after a tough ride and will be in this race in her third start since that break. “
Returning from an extended break after finishing ninth in the First Lady award is the multi-stakes winner of the Bal Mar Equine Dalika . Al Stall Jr.’s intern. returned to Churchill on 2 June after doing the bulk of her 2022 training at the Skylight Training Centre.
Stall said: “The break seemed like it took a bit of her edge away. “She seems to have enjoyed herself and it will take a little while longer for her to get back into race shape. I think the position is a good return.”
