Waterfalls are some of the most popular subjects in landscape photography, providing a great way to add a sense of drama and movement to an otherwise still scene. However, they require some special considerations and techniques to maximize the quality of your images. One of the best things I’ve learned while photographing waterfalls is to not be afraid to get up close (with your safety in mind, of course). You might think that you need tall waterfalls to create dramatic images, but if you pay attention to your perspective, even waterfalls that are only a few feet tall can appear majestic in photos. . This has worked for me living in Ohio, where we have lots of small creeks, but few particularly tall waterfalls, meaning one has to get a little creative.
