Haye predicts a “slug life” between Fury and Whyte

Former heavyweight champion David Haye believes this Saturday’s showdown at Wembley between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte will be a “slugfest”.

‘The Gypsy King’ will defend its WBC title against ‘The Body Snatcher’ in front of more than 90,000 people at England’s national football stadium.

It will be Fury’s second title defense after taking the dazzling title from Deontay Wilder in 2020 before beating the American again in a real bout six months ago.

Haye was recently in London promoting a bout for BT Sport Box Office and Ryan Elliott of Boxing Social asked him if he thought Fury’s recent aggressive fighting style would be a good fit for Whyte.

“Yes. I think the new Tyson Fury style that he has taken in his last two fights seems very fan-friendly. He hasn’t come close to losing but he’s been hit pretty hard, but the fans absolutely loved it. I was ready for both games and what he brought was magic. The intention was to get the knockout and was there from the start. I like his style. him in the last two matches.

“As for how good that will be against Dillian Whyte, I think he needs someone aggressive to get the most out of him. And I understand that Tyson will make him stand on one leg at slugfest. The fans at Wembley Stadium will be absolutely delighted.

“I knew Dillian Whyte wasn’t going to run around and try to stab him. He knows if it goes the distance the chance of stripping the champion’s WBC belt is slim by trying to get past him. You have to get your teeth stuck and that’s what I think will happen. I think it will be a slugfest from the first ring. ”
