Hawaiian man fails to appeal to keep Anti-BLM license plate
Most of Statuses decided so many kinds hate, vulgarity, And other crap that you think is smart for your license plate won’t be tolerated, mostly out of good taste, because everyone wants to watch it anyway. Hawaii is no different and recently won a court ruling in favor of the right to refuse a makeup saucer which is a thinly veiled attack on Black Lives Matter, according to Orange County Registrar.
All started in early 2021, when Edward Odquina, resident of Honolulu registered a special license plate that reads “FCKBLM,” its meaning It’s not hard to distinguish. Realizing this, Honolulu city officials contacted Odquina about the plate and he explained it was a “an acronym for his business name.” Initialthat thing worked and his plate was approved.
Around seven months later, someone decided otherwise, and The City and County of Honolulu licensing manager has reached out to Odquina to say His disk is in violation and he needs to return it. If he doesn’t, they threatenedhe won’t be able to register his car. Odquina refuses for over a year, until the city and county of Honolulu finally threatened him with legal action. then Odquina submit a lawsuit against both Honolulu and HawaiI’m the attorney general, declare they violated his first amendment right.
The city protested, saying that one of their representatives was originally know that the “FCK” part of the plate is a curse word and bookmark it, just let it be anyways approved. ONE judge later ruled against Odquina and sided with Honolulu officials. Odquina appealed and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday hand over Odquina lost one more time, theo Sign up for OC.
