Havanese appearance
The Havanese has a small and sturdy frame – slightly longer than it is tall – covered with a long, silky coat. Its slightly rounded head has a short rectangular snout, a square nose, black lips, and high-set ears, mostly covered with fur. Its black eyes had a sweet yet curious expression. Its neck is slightly arched, sloping down to a deep chest, straight back, and a tail tucked back. Its long, light coat can come in almost any color. Overall, Havanese has a different but messy look.

History of Havanese
The Havanese is the only dog that originated in Cuba. The breed probably arrived in Cuba hundreds of years ago via commercial ships from the Canary Islands. In the 18th century, the Havanese was a major fixture in aristocratic homes throughout Cuba. After the 1959 Revolution, many wealthy Cubans came to the United States. Luckily, they brought their Havanese with them: This special group of 11 canines helped prevent the breed from becoming obsolete.
