England are in a great position to win the 5th Test scheduled against India after the country beaters showed great intent on day 4 of the Edgbaston Test. Opener Alex Lees and Zak Crawley share a century and the experienced and stylish duo of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow beat a half-century unbeaten to put England within range with 7 long shots in hand.
But the scenario could have been different when Hanuma Vihari Don’t miss an easy chance of Bairstow at his second slip from bowling Mohammed Siraj.
Bairstow has been a thorn in India’s flesh as he has beaten a century in the first inning and has been in superb form this summer with Batman.
India came back strong before and after Tea on day 4, picking three quick braces to place the hosts on their hind legs.
With a score of 153/3 and Bairstow over 14, the British went straight to Vihari on his second slip against Siraj. But the Indian puncher didn’t even catch the ball as it passed through his palm to find the touchline.
The opportunity came at a very good height and it was like a controlled catch but Vihari’s reflexes were too slow.
Bairstow didn’t go back there after advertising Bring England to 259/3 at the tree stump. Indian cricket fans have since posted angry reactions on Twitter, blaming Vihari for England’s solid position.
