Hagyard, TCA Announce Second Race Giving Campaign

Hagyard Horse Health Institute and Thoroughbred Charity of America (TCA) announce the second year of “Race to Give,” an online give-and-take campaign running from October 7 to May 11 11. 12 to support post-matriculation care, with the RaceToGive.org website as its central hub.

“The year 2022 marks the 146th year of the Hagyard Equestrian Health Institute caring for the equine industry,” said Dr. Luke Fallon, DVM, of the Hagyard Equestrian Health Institute. “These equestrians have done so much for us over the past century and a half. Our vets created Race of the Givers to show our appreciation. Take the lead. In an effort to support the critical care sector alongside other leading equestrian organizations is the right thing to do.I hope last year’s generous donations of more than $125,000 are just the beginning. for what we can continue to do to support aftercare. I look forward to this event growing even further in its second year.”

The Race to Give is a fundraising but it’s more than that, by design. RaceToGive.org promotes peer-to-peer fundraising by calling on the Thoroughbred industry to create groups and challenge each other to raise money for childcare in fun and innovative ways.

“The highlight for me last year was the variety of donations Race to Give received,” said Ken Ford, CEO of Hagyard Pharmacy. “Traditionally, the same people and groups are the ones who support aftercare. Race to Give proves that people with a heart to care for their horses after their careers are over are more common than we’ve ever seen before. It’s a distinction we’re so lucky to be a part of. It’s an initiative that those in our industry can be proud of and we should also appreciate. horse enthusiasts and casual fans contributed.”

The number of organizations that have partnered with Hagyard and TCA is impressive and demonstrates the active support of Thoroughbred’s childcare service. Organizations include KeenelandFanDuel TV, Purebred Daily News, Churchill DownsThoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, and Resolvet are leading the campaign and we trust others to support this cause.

Mike McMahon, President of TCA said, “It’s amazing how everyone came together to raise more than $125,000 in the first year. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of an initiative that can help so many different groups. TCA has been able to use these generous donations to help 55 different aftercare programs. I hope that, in the second year, everyone who participated last year will be able to share that enthusiasm and pass it on to their friends.”

To create or join a team or donate, please visit RaceToGive.org and follow us at #aracetogive. All funds raised will be allocated to TCA for distribution to approved grant applicants. All donations are tax deductible and TCA will provide a tax receipt.
