Gus Gus – the story of two kittens
This is the story of the shy Gus Gus, as told by his owner Diana Pineda.
“I adopted Gus Gus mid-March 2021. My first rescue cat, Ella, recently passed away and I was stopping by APS to see if you have any cats. Somehow there were only 2 cats in APS that day (not fostered), and Gus Gus was the only one adopted. He was extremely shy and nervous, but after being with him for a few minutes, I decided to take him home. Well, the first nights he hid at the bottom of the bookcase in his room. He was really scared. So I have a Felliway diffuser and light treats, and leave him alone in his room except for a few hours a day. I would sit in a chair and read to him, so he had to learn my voice. Week 2, he left the old bookcase and came to a wall shelf. He has been eating, using his litter from day one. The vet said he was healthy. So I let him stay and started working in his room every few hours (his room is my home office). Slowly, he started walking around the room while I was there. I let him explore the rest of my house after a few weeks. Within weeks Gus Gus let me pet him, and now he’s hanging out on the couch with me! He just needs love and patience! ”
