We played “GRID Legends” and it was really fun
This week has seen the launch of two popular racing games: “Gran Turismo 7” and “GRID Legends”. Since “GRID” went live a little earlier, we’ll give our thoughts on that this week, but you can expect our “Gran Turismo 7” impressions in the total. end next week. As far as “GRID” goes, it’s an arcade racer that looks and feels great with a decent amount of variety and a remarkably action-packed story mode that’s easy to get hooked on.
The main game modes available are story, career, social (multiplayer) and race creator. We spent the most time in the 36-chapter story mode, and we enjoyed our time with it. The live-action cutscenes are surprisingly well produced. The story stays entertaining in large part thanks to Miles Yekinni’s excellent performance as Marcus Ado, the “prodigy” Headmaster of the Seneca Racing team in the game. It is expected that Marcus will quickly turn his attention to you, the player, who is tasked with dominating the first few races and impressing him so that he will suggest you to join the team. . The layout for this mode comes as no surprise; it follows a fairly traditional pattern of cutscenes, races, cutscenes, races, etc., but the pacing is thankfully well balanced and quite engaging.
As for the actual gameplay, it’s like arcadey, in a good way. The game starts you off with all sorts of auto-assist enabled and the default difficulty mode is pretty easy if you have any experience with racing games. However, this is not a criticism as you can easily raise the difficulty level higher if you want. In fact, it could be a great game for those who don’t like racing games but want to dip their toes in the genre. It looks great, it has a wide variety of cars and tracks to choose from, and it’s not bogged down by loads of unnecessary confusing menus (*cough* looks at you, “Forza” *cough*).
Speaking of vehicle types, there are many of them. You can choose to race Touring, Tuner, GT, Drift, Track Day, Open Wheel Racing, Truck, Tram or Special Vehicle. All vehicles feel quite different and interesting in their own ways. There are also 22 track locations, each with multiple drivable routes and the ability to race during the day or night, creating a huge variety of track options for players.
All in all, if you’re not looking for a super intense challenge, gnashing of teeth or a super realistic simulation, but instead just want some fun exploring the tracks, the game This could very well be worth your time.
