The California company Lucid has produced an EPA-rated 520-mile electric car — enough to beat the Tesla Model S in range and performance. That, in a car with up to 1,111 hp, exceeds the Plaid’s 1,020 hp. And it can make charging stops on the road shorter, with a recovery time of up to 300 miles in 20 minutes. Furthermore, it presents a comprehensive reinterpretation of luxury and design that, even from the launch pad, is a formidable competitor to existing premium brands.
It is also graceful to drive, with its graceful and responsive character, matches the beautiful appearance — seemingly influenced by aircraft and French design, while offering what might be the best ever for a with a long, low, forward cab style. With a bright, welcoming interior that gives it a Volvo or DS premium feel, and seats you can stretch out in front or back, the cabin showcases all you can unleash in one design. Cleanliness frees itself from the design Lucid VP Derek Jenkins has called “legacy thinking”.
All of that together makes Lucid Air a contender. And while the car alone is enough to easily earn a spot as one of the Best car to buy finalist, there’s a reality to face: The Air, at least in 2022, is an incredibly low mass vehicle.

On its own, with a starting price of around $170,000 in a Dream Edition guise, it’s a very expensive toy – though one with a range of up to 520 miles. More affordable versions starting at $77,400 will go on sale next year or so.
That said, the technology in the Air will most likely find its way to the mass market — not only in the more popular Lucid models later in the decade, but also in vehicles from other brands. Compact, energy-efficient motors, proprietary inverter technology and space-saving battery packs are all poised to expand into much larger models — perhaps for automakers other and for businesses to store their own future energy.

Lucid started as a battery company and delivered packages Formula E racing in three seasons. And unlike Tesla and Rivian, it do not aspire to build their own cells.
If the cell is a commodity, then what Lucid does with that commodity is its trump card in the marketplace.
Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CFO of Lucid, who a decade ago was the chief engineer of the Tesla Model S, doesn’t like the idea of ”ready-to-sell” parts for electric vehicles and believes the strong point. Lucid’s lies in harmony. all — design, packaging, performance and Special work prioritizes efficiency in the air.

All work on the master harmoniously displayed in the Air. Rawlinson teases that what might be seen as a sort of “purely technical game” may finally work, as production ramps up and the same harmonized approach is applied to cars. Next, each vehicle has a larger mass. Gravity SUV will be triggered by Phase 2 expansion at the Casa Grande, Arizona plant over the next year or two, followed by a third step that includes Tesla Model 3/Y vehicles and an annual expansion to 365,000 units that will by the end of this decade. A pickup and coupe are also planned for 2030.
Essentially, Lucid is betting on a future in which the vehicles that can operate intelligently with the least amount of energy will be the winners. We focus on Green car report, it’s a leap forward but entirely brand-based.
