In the more than twenty years SHARK has investigated and exposed rodeo cruelty, we have seen numerous editorials and columns against rodeo animal abuse, often disguised as “Western Tradition.” America” by unethical corporate sponsors and ignorant “reporters”. looking for a story that is easy to understand and doesn’t stress their limited abilities.
Rarely do we see a column more honest than this one by Naomi Lakritz, a columnist for The Calgary Herald. The obvious truth in Ms. Lakritz’s column would be to completely succumb to the narcissistic rodeo crowd, as their world is geared only for their own good, regardless of the cost to inhuman victims. . However, for those trying to do the right thing, Ms. Lakritz has produced a thought-provoking piece well worth considering by any enlightened person.

… the bottom line is that these animals are still being used for sheer entertainment during events that could result in injury and death – and they don’t need to suffer from this. Are we humans too busy entertaining ourselves to entertain ourselves by watching events that could cause animals pain and death?
