After an introductory period where EV owners could charge for free, the Go To-U EV Lifestyle Hub in Rekascape, Cyberjaya has switched to a pay-per-use model. Charger usage is currently set at RM1.60 per kWh.
The Rekascape charger has an option to charge in kWh instead of over time as it has received an EVCS license from the Malaysian Energy Commission. While please note that while the EVCS license allows kWh pricing instead of minute time pricing, the charger operator is not required to provide kWh pricing, which is why many sites with EVCS licenses continue to set prices over time.
While pricing per kWh is considered ‘fairer’ for all EVs since each EV can be charged different rates, time-based pricing has the advantage of not encourage plug-in charging at highway locations where there may be queues to use chargers.
The Rekascape Center has two Star Charge DC fast charging stations capable of delivering up to 60 kW of power. Each charger has two guns, so a total of four EVs can be charged at the same time at the hub. If two EVs are charging on the same charger, the charger’s 60 kW capacity is divided into 30 kW for each connected EV.
