GM is aiming to deliver the first cars to customers in “a few months,” Reuss said. That means the automaker could meet the Q1 2022 deadline it mentioned last November. At that time, GM said it has completed 80% of the verification and is fine tuning the car.
Pre-orders for the Debut Edition — the only one available at launch — are full, and GM says it won’t open pre-orders for other versions until the summer.
2023 Cadillac Lyriq test
GM previously said it was targeting 300 miles in EPA-rated range for the Debut Edition and a base price quote of $59,990, but didn’t detail other trim levels or options.
GM reported in 2020 that it pulled Lyriq forward about nine months, with an accelerated growth program — possibly because Lyriq’s segment is looking very competitive. Most of Cadillac’s competitors have already launched electric SUVs or are planning.
The Spring Hill factory, which was originally built to assemble Saturn vehicles, will also produce Acura-branded EVs in 2024, according to a 2021 report. The Acura EV will use the GM platform, which is part of a partnership between GM and parent Honda Acura.

Electric vehicle production in Spring Hill will be supported by LG battery factory joint venture. It will be part of the Ultium Cells LLC partnership between the two companies primarily to deliver on GM’s Ultium propulsion strategy as it adds new electric vehicle models.
GM dealers will receive high power 80-amp Level 2 charger– fits Lyriq’s built-in 19.2 kw charger. The automaker has asked Cadillac dealers to prepare for electric vehicles, with the expectation of bringing the brand all-electric before the end of the decade. However, that decision has angered some dealers.
