GloRilla is opening up about how she unrepentantly began to embrace her signature voice, and how she realized she had to slow down and smell the roses instead of just focusing on the future.
GloRilla admits to being ’embarrassed’ in the past by her iconic voice
The “Tomorrow 2” rapper talked about the topic in a recent conversation with Elle, and she admitted that her voice was originally “awkward” she, like Glo “Want to sound like a girl.”
“When I first rapped, I tried to sound like a little girl. I’m saying some harsh things, but only in a small feminine voice. It’s me trying to change my sound because I have a naturally lower voice. I was a little embarrassed because I wanted to sound like a girl.
However, when it comes to 2021, GloRilla has “changed her sound” and allowed her voice to “get deeper and deeper” on her tracks.
“That was the first time I changed my sound. That was the year my voice started to get lower and lower.”
This sentiment echoes the previous comment she made on the matter. During a sit-down with The Cut in January 2023, Glo recounted that her voice “squealed” when she tried to “sound like a girl” when she started playing rap games.
After some friends called her about this, GloRilla decided, “Let me insist on what I heard, just add a little sauce to it.”
Additionally, after Twitter users talked about her vocals on “Blessed,” Glo humorously stated: “My voice is only that deep because my P***y is SO GOOD.”

The rapper is appreciating her hard work and current achievements
In addition to her desire to embrace her “naturally deeper voice,” GloRilla also spoke of an important lesson she learned about appreciating her blessings and not being “so focused on it.” [the] future.”
“The initial bonus was that I got where I am now. My friend and I recently talked about how focused we are on our future—what else can we do to be better than what we’re doing now? We forget that what we have right now is what we were [always] prayed for.”
Although Glo just wants to live in the moment and enjoy the fruits of her labor, she still gives fans a preview of what will happen in her next project.
Specifically, since she is “on [her] hood s**t” while recording her Anyway, life is great… EP, she plans to use “different sounds” on her upcoming album. However, she assures fans that she will “still” [be] raw and uncut.
“This [new album] will still be me, still intact and uncut. But only I know what it’s like to be here and [experimenting with] different sounds. Because I was in my hood the whole time.
GloRilla added, “This round, it’s not just me that’s difficult. I have a few different sounds coming out of this one.
