A new year means a bunch of new events will come our way Pokémon GO. This time around, January is kicking off with the Twinkling Fantasy event, which will see the game shift focus to Dragon and Fairy types from January 10 at 8 am to January 16 at 10 pm (local time).
Among the usual Raid Battles and Egg exclusions, this event will see the game debuts of both Mega Salamence and Shiny Dedenne – yes, we imagine the latter will be as adorable as you think. There are also new Event Bonuses and new Featured Attacks coming in the week, full details can be found in the following from Pokémon GO website.

Collection challenge
Twinkling Fantasy will have a brand new Collection Challenge during the event. Completing this challenge earns you many rewards including 50 Salamence Mega Energy, a loaded TM and a fast TM.
Field research
Completing the Field Research Quest during the event will allow you to encounter the following Pokémon:

The Twinkling Fantasy event will feature a new Raid roster split, as usual, between the One-Star, Three-Star, Five-Star, and Mega categories. You’ll be able to come across the following Pokémon in each category, all with a shiny variant available:
One Star Raid

- Jigglypuff
- Marill
Three Star Raid
Five-star raid
Big Raid
Outstanding Attacks
Any Zekrom stuck between January 10 at 10 am and January 18 at 10 am (local time) will know the striking attack fused bolts. This Electric Move provides 90 power in Trainer Duel and 140 power in Gym and Raid.
Event Bonus
The following event rewards will be available in Twinkling Fantasy:
- 2× XP for successfully catching a Pokémon with Nice Throw, Great Throw, and Excellent Throw
- Extra Candy to successfully catch Pokémon with Nice Throw, Great Throw, and Excellent Throw
- Increases the chance of Trainers level 31 or higher to receive Candy XL when successfully catching a Pokémon with Nice Throw, Great Throw, and Excellent Throw
