The Jockey Club of Canada is pleased to announce that Ivan Dalos will be awarded the EP Taylor Certificate of Merit during the 47th Annual Sovereignty Awards on Thursday evening, April 14, 2022 in Vaughan, Ontario. Ivan Dalos, owner of Tall Oaks Ranch, has devoted more than 45 years to thoroughbred sport and has made significant contributions to the Canadian Horseracing. He has worked tirelessly to support the Canadian Livestock Industry and has achieved resounding success. As the owner of 38 stallions and 3 stallions in Ontario, Ivan has bred Champions such as Eclipse Award Winner Gallop Victory and Channel Producer and has won over 12 Owner Awards. rights including many times winning the title of Outstanding Breeder. Ivan is the owner and/or breeder of Champions Amis Gizmo , Conquest Enforcer and Johnny Bear to name a few.
The Jockey Club of Canada is proud to present Denzil Fonseca with its 2021 Groom of Excellence Award sponsored by OLG. This year marks 40 years of Denzil’s work on Woodbine. He currently works for Michael Doyle, whom he has worked with for over 14 years. Denzil is dedicated, hard-working and extremely diligent while ensuring that each horse he takes care of is his number one priority. Denzil has cared for some incredible horses during his career, such as 2017 Woodbine Oaks and Queen’s Plate winner Holy Helena for Stronach Stables and high stakes winners Tiz Imagine for Windhaven Farms Inc.
The Jockey Club of Canada is also pleased to announce the finalists for the Communication categories of the 2021 Sovereign Awards. Judging for the Media Awards is conducted by media experts in the industry. Selected from all over North America. A 4-2-1 point system is used to determine the first, second and third place finalists in each category.
