HoYoVerse uploaded a video detailing the history of Chinese interior painting. The video is entirely in Mandarin but with English subtitles. Wang Ziyong, an interior painter, painted the landscape and Adepti from The Genshin effect. Even so, the majority of the video focuses on the history and techniques of interior painting.
In the video, we can see Wang Ziyong’s artistic performance of Jueyun Karst, Mt. Hulao and Mt. Aocang. Because inner painting is a traditional art of China and the Liyue region in The Genshin effect have a very traditional Chinese aesthetic, they are visually relevant. Wang Ziyong explained that he had to use oil painting techniques for three landscape paintings, and it was difficult to get the pigment just right.

Wang Ziyong also showcased his completed projects on Chinese legends. For example, he drew a picture of Chang’e and Jade Rabbit. Inner painting is an art in which you use a special brush to paint the inside of a bottle from the opening. An artist has to paint backwards due to the way the bottle is bottled and the work requires a lot of concentration.
This is not the first time HoYoVerse has used it The Genshin effect to educate about Chinese history and culture. Previously, it released two videos about Chinese cuisine. The first one details how to make bamboo shoot soup (Zhongli’s specialty) and the second gave the recipe for fried shrimp balls.
