Fujifilm GFX 100S vs. Leica M11: Who has the best colors?

Fujifilm has been compared to Leica for quite some time. In most cases, it’s a comparison between Fujifilm X-mount cameras and Leica M and Q series cameras. Many of these comparisons tend to focus on color; However, the advantage in sensor size is still in favor of Leica. So, how does a full-frame Leica compare to a medium-format Fujifilm camera?

In our latest video we compare Fujifilm GFX 100S against the new Leica M11. The lens we used for comparison is Fujifilm GF 50mm f/3.5 and Leica APO-Summicron-M 35mm f/2.0 lens.

Fujifilm has done remarkable things for the medium format industry. Not only does it bring the price down to a relatively affordable level, but it also creates what could be considered the best medium format camera system to date. The GFX 100 is the first medium-format camera to feature an advanced phase-detection autofocus system, sensor-shift technology, and the ability to capture 16-bit raw files all in one body.

For this particular comparison, we focused on color more than anything else. The fact that Fujifilm can shoot 16-bit raw files gives the GFX 100s an incredible amount of flexibility and is a huge advantage over the Leica. Even so, we found that the Leica outperformed the Fujifilm in most comparisons.

It should be noted, of course, that this comparison is made primarily for fun and is by no means taken too seriously. Still, it will be interesting to see how these cameras compare to each other.
